About the session
Of all the concerts we staged before lockdown, this one caused the most surprise. The band, Mickey Fearon on vocals and guitar and Oisin O'Murchu banjo, caught the imagination of the audience with their energy, their passion and the way they just went for everything, unleashing everything they had and encoring late into the night.
The music was a mixture of trad and folk songs, all specifically arranged, and an original of Mickey's which had the biggest reaction on the night. They lit up the room, engaged with it and left nothing in the locker. In many ways it was the night their careers crystallised... Mickey had just got his 1st Class Masters and Oisin his 1st class degree from UU Magee in Music, and the added confidence in tandem with a room that was packed in like sardines, well you could have cut the tension with a knife!
