And so to the last gig of 2022, the Carole Nelson Trio from Ireland with two great friends of Linley's on drums and bass, Cormac O'Brien bass and Dominic Mullan drums who played on two of Linley’s early albums, Taylor Made and In Transition. The leader was pianist Carole Nelson, an endearing soul whose almost spiritual countenance infected everyone with empathy, love and unity…the music greeted us in the same way.
A full house got stuck into the pre-and post-gig nibbles and mulled wine, an early Christmas treat, as mostly originals, but with some carefully chosen tunes that were known to all, given new treatments. The piano was caressed and the room was drawn in, the meticulous fusion of drums and bass, a testament to the countless gigs these guys have played together in a myriad of musical settings, an empathy that clothed the Trio in a blanket of unity, dynamically breathing like one entity, with Nelson's intent the standard-bearer for the music.
Thank you to all who came out and celebrated being together at this time. Merry Christmas everyone from Magy’s Farm x
