The Jazz was back! After a few months’ respite, (and it took us all that long to recover from Liane Carroll's mastery in February), we played host to one of New York’s finest post-bop and contemporary jazz pianists Greg Murphy.
It was the first time any of the band had ever played live with a musician who was so angular in his playing style, with McCoy Tyner voicings and break-neck speed intervals of 4ths and 5ths giving the music an edge that it wouldn’t normally have, much to the enjoyment of the audience.
Greg enjoyed his time at the farm, feeding the donkeys, witnessing lambs being born and dealing with the cats relaxing on his bed! That's how we roll at Magy's Farm.
Greg was joined by Linley on trumpet, Rohan Armstrong on bass and Dr. Steve Davis on drums.
