John Donegan Quartet

Live at Magy's Farm sessions

Magy's Farm are proud to present John Donegan Quartet, live in session.

About the session

The hardest working pianist from Ireland is at it again. Limerick-born John Donegan, now living in England, is one of the most prolific composers in UK jazz. Donegan produced another new album, ‘Shadows Linger’ with a fully Irish band, and they chose Magy’s Farm as one of the venues on their launch tour, for which we are eternally grateful.

John Daly, that luscious drummer from Limerick, and SuperDan Dan Bodwell, the ever-accurate governor on bass, provided a wonderful support for the effervescent Donegan on piano who directed the band and exploded over the ivories. The front line of O’Connor, Buckley and Hamilton, who just happen to also be best friends, patted each-others’ backs, cheered each other on and pushed each other to the edge of their capacity…nothing was left on the battlefield, the big guns came to play and play they did! It was tremendous, jazz of such a level from an all-Irish band who were comerades as well as musicians…just the way we like it.
