This is a concert we had been looking forward to for some time.
Louise marked the first of two back-to-back vocal gigs at the farm that would ignite the room for all the right reasons. Scotland’s Louise Dodds was back in Ireland for the first time in ten years, and she brought a load of original songs with her, all given a masterful steer by musical director on the night, our own Dr. Scott Flanigan who led an imaginative rhythm section of Rohan Armstrong bass and Andrew McCoubrey drums, already becoming an established partnership who lock in tight together but are always exploring new rhythmic responses that provide a different colour for the vocalist to launch her personalised story to.
Louise was exquisite with a beautiful narrative between the songs, a pleasant countenance and some degree of craft which caressed the melodies and storylines with a subtle confidence that endeared her to a responsive audience.
