About the session
This was a special occasion; one of Linley’s oldest friends and most respected musicians returned to Magy’s Farm. Drummer Darren Beckett, who started out in a brass band with Linley before climbing to ridiculous heights in New York with the likes of Lee Konitz, also Jim Beard, John Herington, and Madeline Peyroux dazzled the room as part of the Stefan Mercier Trio.
Darren brought with him the incredibly melodic sax player Stefan Mercier, who wove intricate lines over the rock-solid foundation of Dave and Darren on bass and drums. The trio demonstrated their effortless musicality; pace, emotion, energy all changing places throughout the night.
A magical musical setting at the farm before the wine and nibbles kicked in to take the evening to a close.
