Well where do we start here. We had the pleasure of hosting the guys for a couple of night...two gentlemen, great company, and of course, new disciples of Maggie's cooking! Tomer Cohen from Israel via New York, and Rodrigo Almonte, who has been residing for some time in Kildare, were magical. Almost all the music they played were originals from each other's albums, with sextet and trio arrangements made to work for two guitars as they shared responsibilities for comping and then soloing, with melodies that were memorable for their complexity but also their lyrical construction. There could hardly be anything more intimate than two guitars and they managed to draw the audience in with some magical moments, with melodic fragments they seemed to hit by accident, but which they would then run with to create themes that filled the room and a stream of smiles from the stage that infected all who were present. Can't wait to see you again guys x
